Nautilus machines lacking

Ive recently started at a gym that has nautilus equipment.

But im finding they dont seem to hold enough weight.

So far the shoulder press, incline press, flat bench press, pullover, pec deck, leg extension, leg press, lat pulldown and tricep machine i am at the max weight on these which is ok for now as im still in the lower rep range if i use pre exhaust, but i feel like as i get stronger in the next couple of months there just wont be enough stimulation for growth.

Just wondering if anyone else has found this and what they do?

I do freeweights on alternate weeks.

At my other gym the machines have hooks so you can just throw some more plates on the side but i dont think the nautilus are made to handle that.

I like the feel of the nautilus.

Do you have more weight on your nautilus machines?

eg: pec deck has around 240lbs i think and shoulder press around 270lbs , hard to remember as its been converted from lbs to kg′s here in australia so it has odd kg weights but i remember shoulder press had 122kgs + extra segmented plate.

Thanks, Glenn

Yeah, I ran into the same problem with MedX machines at my gym. I haven′t actually increased weight on any of my exercises for months now. I haven′t worked out much lately though, because I′ve been dieting and my job is very stressful at the moment. But, the people working at my gym said I could take some weight and stack it on the weight stack. I never actually tried, but they said some other people do it. So I′m guessing someone would either have to hold it on there for you (just balance it), or you would have to stick a 5 or 10 inbetween the pin and the stack (sounds dangerous though).

I′ve done this in the past with a calf raise machine. I had to pin two 45s onto the side in order to fail before 10 reps.

I find that using other pins in a gym only let you put 5 or 10 lbs on it. There just isn′t enough room in between the pin and the stack. Go to a hardware store and get an industrial strength long bolt. you can get monster bolts that are really quite long. As long as they′re small enough to fit into the pin hole, you′ll be able to pin a ton of weight onto the side without any problem or danger whatsoever.

That said, I couldn′t put any more plates on with the length bolt I had. Instead, I ended up using a much slower rep speed and was able to drop the weight considerably, and still get the stimulation I needed.

Good luck,

Jeff
