Periodization

I′ve trained HD for many years but have never used or understood "periodization" at all. Mike belittled it while other workout theorists think it is hightly productive. Any input?

If periodization means changing physical demands on the body aside from progressive overload, then I think it′s necessary for the advanced, although not for beginners and intermediates. If we go by that definition, Mike himself did it when he incorporated set intensifiers from time to time, which cycled intensity.

Periodization is only usefull when you are overtraining.

This happens when you train with not enough rest between workouts or to many sets.

When you rest enough between workouts, like Mentzer sayed `4 to 7 days` then you can`t overtrain, so you can always train at the same level of intensity.

Therefore, you dont have to train with different types of intensity.

Just train hard en intens en rest enough to get stronger and the rest will follow.

I disagree, it is very useful for numerous reasons. Especially for athletes or the advanced. I used to think it was a crock, but I do see merit in it now.

In my previous post, meant to say it was necessary for the advanced and intermediates, although not for beginners.
