When all else fails...Lie!

http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0012033

^ This total bullshit proves what Arthur Jones said shortly before his death about how the exercise field is like the rest of society today - absolutely insane. It matters not if its simply repeating what Jones said is 1971. One set done to absolute failure will stimulate more size/strength increases (IF ADEQUATE REST IS ALLOWED) than any other form of training. This matters because strength training (HIT) is THE single best form of age prevention/life extension is existence. Mindlessly racking up hour after hour of low intensity treadmill, running, biking, etc., will never even approach the results which are possible w/ HIT training. The problem lies w/ the fact HIT is damn hard to do consistently, so goddam hard 9 out of 10 people simply don′t have what it takes to do it.

Mike & other followers of Jones came up w/ the term HIT, not Jones. Jones simply carved the principles in stone which will never be disproven.

Good point.

By the way - and correct me if I′m wrong -, Arthur did came up with the term HIT.

I think Darden claims to have come up with the acronym during a lecture. Jones usually called it the Nautilus method. Metzner usually called his training Heavy Duty, probably to differentiation it from other HIT programs.

I don′t recall ever hearing or reading anything in which Jones ever labeled his style of training anything; nautilus, HIT or anything else. Then again Jones wasn′t selling courses or tshirts, he was making millions (1970′s millions mind you) off his machines and exotic animal business.

I think it was Mentzer or Darden who at best are/were Jones pitchmen. Although Mentzer did more so than Darden to refine & advance intelligent training.

Darden got stuck for over a decade just parrotting everything that the SuperSlow cult said. He never bothered to look past typical Jones recommendation of 3x a week full body routines to see if something else works better. I have a few of his 90s books from Amazon. What a joke they were. They are filled with pictures of steroid using professionals that never trained close to anything resembling HIT.
