hit for girls

my girlfriend has been taking note of my gains, and is interested in trying hit. she was a college athelete and is an experienced lifter. my question is, how are the priciples applied towards females? in hit the mm way, mike used the feminine pronoun "she" a lot, does this mean that the principles can be applied to males and females, or should they be adjusted for girls? also, she will not give up cardio. track atheltes are nuts that way. she loves to do it. so what should i tell her?

Hi Maverick,

My wife is doing HD with me, and she has made fantastic gains. She′s going to be stronger than most of the guys in the gym in about 6 months. There is no differences for males or females. If you want, I can post her strength gains on the exercises over the past few months (she started with me about 3 months ago).

Hey, Before my sister got pregnant I was training her. She and my brother in law started at the same time. We coulnd believe she was doing more weight than him on some excersices. Especially the lower body. Before she started she felt her body felt too soft. She felt that a week after her first leg work out her thighs were getting firm and her husband and I agreed. She is going to resume training in about 2 months. In other word HIT is perfect for women too.

Mike probably being politically correct when he applied she instead of he. I have heard for many years that men on average can quadruple strength where females can only triple. He threw a she into this point.

Other than that small point I don′t see the difference unless a woman chose not to become too muscular for esthetic reasons. Most women will never be too muscular because of hormones but a few of them might.

My wife has been training with me since the summer but she was doing it for fat loss and shaping. She is getting to be very strong and although her weight has stayed the same is much firmer. She is now stronger than some of the guys at the club.

Sometimes she doubts her improvement because the weight is the same. So I point out that she is lifting twice what she started at so muscle mass must have gone up and fat must have gone down. Plus as I said she is firmer everywhere.

I also starting training my 74 year old mother at the same time as my wife. She had tremendous shoulder problems and couldn′t lift her arms any more. Now she is getting much stronger. I only let her go to failure and don′t ask her to push after that. I progress her very slowly adding only minimum weight after each 12 reps even if she goes to 15. I want to give her bones and joints a chance to adapt to the exercise slowly. Some exercises are assisted by me when she has trouble. This way I can regulate how smooth the motion is and minimize injures.

None of us do any cardio. Although I don′t know what is more cardio than HIT but that is another topic.

Good topic.

thanks for the info guys, i think that she is going to give it a try. if anyone has any suggestions on routines, please tell me. she is very comfortable under free weights, so i think that i am going to give her the ideal routine. as for the cardio thing, some people get that "runners high" and they have to have it. i guess the alternative is putting on 15 lbs like 90% of the college girls i see. ewww. 🙂
