Darden′s New HIT |
|
|
|
Hi guys, I′m new around here and thought I′d see if anyone has been following the program in Darden′s latest book. I′m not in the best shape and just started the six month program about a week ago. I′m very happy with the results, I know it′s only been a week but so far, so good. I started phase 1 at 208lbs. and 16.5% bodyfat. One week later I′m 202lbs and 13.6%. I plan to continue phase 1 until I′m down to at least 8%. I′ve been there before so I know I can do it. Has anyone else been following the program any longer than I have and what are your results?
Thanks, Chewy

Chewy,
Don′t want sound overcritical here but isn′t a 6 pound weight loss in one week TOO DRASTIC?!! I bet most of what you′ve lost were mostly MUSCLE and WATER. It would be nearly impossible for you to lose that amount of FAT in a week′s time ! Rememeber that a pound of fat is equivalent to a whopping 3,500 calories ! That means that to lose 6 pounds of bodyfat in one week you need to have a 24,500 (3,500 x 7 days) caloric deficit in 7 days ! Now even if you eat NOTHING during that time you wouldn′t be able to acheive that amount of caloric deficit ! I suggest you take a more sensible route to EFFECTIVE FAT LOSS that way you′ll preserve more of your HARD EARNED MUSCLE.
PEACE.

NeuroMass,
I had the same concern. However, I can′t believe how well this is working. Here′s what′s going on, I just finished up week two. I′ve been getting my bodyfat measured by a doctor who′s been measuring people for over ten years with calipers, so whether the numbers are accurate or not at least I′m getting a consistent measurement.
Anyway, starting at 208 at 16.5%, 173.68lbs. of lean mass.
After week 1: 202lbs., 13.6%, 174.5lbs. of lean mass.
After week 2.: 199lbs., 11.6%, 175.9lbs. of lean mass.
So whil losing 9lbs. I′ve put on a little over 2lbs of muscle.
Logic tells me this shouldn′t be happening. I can′t believe how much better I look after just two weeks.
Who knows how long this will continue. I want to get down below 10% like Dr. Darden recommends before bulking up. Actually, I′d like to get down to 7-8%, I′ve been there before so I know I can do it again. When I start bulking again I′ll be more carefull about watching the fat gain.

Chewy, can you post Darden′s routine(s) so we can have a look? Or have they been posted somewhere already?
