Progress with chin-ups

I am on my 5th week with the "Athletes" routine. So far I have gone up with weight and reps on all exercises but not sure about chin-ups. Actually I did 6 reps the first week, 8 reps the 3rd week and back to only 6 reps today. The only thing I changed today was the tempo I was doing chins with. Before I was doing 2 seconds up 4 seconds down. Today I did 3 seconds up 1 second hold and 4 seconds down. Would this be the reason I lost two reps or am I getting weaker with chins?

Thanks

ICS

ICS,
You should try to keep your time rep speed fairly constant from workout to workout, but also when you are performing bodyweight exercises like chins and dips make sure you weigh yourself right before each workout. Is it possible you gained a little weight since the last time you performed chins? Sometimes even wearing different clothes/shoes can affect your bodyweight.

I do now weigh 2 pound more then last time. Good Point! I will have to start making sure I do the same tempo from workout to workout.

Thanks
