Please answers this for me

I just want to start out by saying I enjoy lifting HD style but in the back of my head Ive got these questions going on that may be you guys could help me with ……Mike Mentzer said that if a guy was to put on around 5 Ibs of pure muscle a yr he was doing great .This is out of HighIntensity Training the Mike Mentzer way .Anyways I dont have the book in front of me as of now but Im pretty sure he said 5 or so pounds .He also say′s that a guy could reach his full potential in a yr useing HIT .So my first question is I know for a fact that my full potential is not going to be only 5 Ibs. So how much muscle did Mike think was possible in a yr 5ibs or a guys full potential of alot more than 5 Ibs ???The next question is when asked by Jhon Little what was the most mass producing routine he ever did Mike said it was a two way split going to failure on no more than four sets per body part .I will post the rotine and this most mass building routine that he talks about is far from whats put in his books.

Ok this is what Mike said was his most mass porducing routine that he ever did . So what gives Mike did not take alot of time off to recover .As you can see he only took one day off inbetween ….That was my secound question if some one could answer that for me that would be great ..Now my last question .How many pro bodybuilders that you know of use HIT ?? And im talking about guys who only train once in a 9-12 day time period useing only one set to failure …Even Mike himself never followed what he has in his books .His most mass producing routine was never a 9-12 day one set to failure routine as he puts in his books .This makes me worried because why should I waste my time on routines that he never did …And remember guys Im not baging on HIT I think it could be a great way to train but I just got alot of questions thanks.

Hey Yates,

Well, there is one easy answer, Mike and the Pro′s use steroids. They work by increasing your recovery ability. This allows one to do more, stimulate more and still recover quickly.

I guess Mike did say that if he knew then what he knew now he would have trained less. Back when he was BB′ing, he was still thinking A.J. was right about the 96 hour decompensation time period.

Hope that helps!

Yates,

I don′t think anyone has ever reached their full potential in a year′s time, and i also don′t thing 5 lbs. in a year is great, so I wouldn′t put too much importance on these.

As far as his previous routine, like Analyzer said, pros use steroids so they′re able to train more frequently. It wouldn′t make sense for them to train as infrequently as a natural bodybuilder would because then what would be the point of being on steroids. That′s why none of the pros do HIT.

The program you listed was based on an interview by John Little in the late 80′s well before Mike had fully grasped and Perfected the HD/HIT Theory !!! Yes Mike stated that THAT was his MOST productive routine because during the time he was competing he didn′t know any better ! Mike often emphasize that even he made a BIG mistake in the application of the HIT theory when he was competing and believes he might have done better if he knows then what he discovered later on !The book is quite confusing because John Little doesn′t distinguish between VINTAGE HD/HIT from the UPDATED HD/HIT !!! Some of his interviews of Mike was done decades ago ! We all know that Mike′s ideas and application f the theory has undergone many changes throughout the years and only in just a a few years before his death that he eventually realized his mistakes and PREFECTED HIT ! I suggest you READ HD2 Mind and Body . That book is MORE accurate and a REAL masterpiece of Work ! With regards to how much muscle per year is possible well that would depend on your GENETIC potential ! In HD2 Mike stated that his students averaged 10-20 lbs gain A MONTH ! Also he believes that you can realize your GENETIC POTENTIAL in a year (or less) provided you train correctly ! PEACE .
