why is it,in the first suggested routine given in MMHDII ,the following mon.Chest,Back fri. legs tue.arm delt sat. legs!! again then it goes on to state that the person should wait 4 more days then start over
wouldnt that hinder any type of major growth for the upper body I mean come on ONLY TWO WORKOUTS PER MONTH I mean what about a beginner? how much weight will he increase if he′s only working his upper body in 14 day spans? And forgive me for saying this but as far i can remember Bill Phillips routine was supposed to be a sure shot way of lifting weights but Mike Mentzer says noway! gross overtraining!fools! but ive seen those pictures from body -for -life and what can I say? I love Mikes book then I believe it? let me also add that I havent worked out in 6 months but Ive been bitten by the weight bug again but Ive never done or seen a Hiter that has said "Look at me!!!" Mike was right!"
please help explain
thank you, Patrick

i would also like to add that I AM not attempting to bash MM′s heavy duty routine I was just looking for some clarification.. I do whole-heartedly want to use HIT, but As a previous "bodybuilder". A 3 exercise,3x 8-10, 3 times a week; is pretty basically the type of routine I′m used to hearing about. Especially for a non-drug using weightlifter. Please, all comments and advice will be well appreciated
thanks Patrick

well its been almost 5 hours since my post and no one has responded. I hope that my question was as clear as possible. btw I have read and re-read all past posts, from jeff and bloodandguts critical views to, analyzers and ttwarrior defense of the hit theory
and the real desire, on my part , is to get back in shape for the summer ,and, if all works as I have read in heavy duty2, I would like to become an advocate of this type of training..maybe sorta like a mini Mentzer! lol
thanks (again) Patrick

Hi Kmart,
I believe you should do the workout 3 days a week, but in the same fashion. One workout with pre exhaust, and one workout with just a set of the compound lifts. As progress stals, add the rest days then. Beginners do not have the development to work out as intensley as they need to for that kind of frequency. If you find that there is no progress, be sure to report back and tell us.
I would seriously do the routine Monday, wed, Fri, like this: Chest/Back on Monday, Legs on next workout day, then arms/delts the next time. Once every 48 hours. You should get stronger each time out until you stall, then you need more rest days.
Jesse
