Short vs. long barbell |
Hi guys!
Got one question and would like to know your opinion: I did before BB curls with olympic barbell. Today I did curls with the same weight but using short barbell; i.e. between my hands and plates is about 20-30 cm. I think that it′s different and harder to perform with shorter barbell that with long "Olympic" barbell. I did 2 reps less as consequence.
You have the same opinion? Or are my feelings not objective?

It′s harder on a short barbell because you don′t have the flexibility of an Olympic Barbell and thus you don′t have the elastic energy which helps you. The difference is relatively important on a Bench Press (5-10kg on a 1RM).

The olympic barbell may be larger in circumference than the other bar that you are using, this would change the dynamics of the exercise.
