The Barbarian Brothers |

Do you remember these guys? Mike mentioned training one or both of them HD style in Muscles in Minutes. From what I read in Muscles in Minutes they had some very impressive increases. I would think they would have stuck with Heavy Duty, but when I read the below – I was wrong!
The below paragraph is from: http://www.barbarianbrothers.com
Lately, David Paul has been working on some truly awesome photography. Some of which you can see at www.davidpaulphotography.com . He has been given rave reviews for his private showings and had his photos featured often in Musclemag International. According to visitors of Gold′s Gym Venice, both he and Peter still train there every day (NOTE THAT?). David is said to look to be around 220lbs. and defined, while Peter is still slightly smaller – and reportedly much "softer" looking.
Why would you think these guys would go back to training "every day." Go figure.

But you´re right! Why did they go back to more volume and frequency. One can just imagine that they trained by volume fashion many years before Mentzer introduced them to HD and after a short training period they switched back.
That´s one thing that could been more explained. How long did Mentzer train David Paul and Aaron Baker under his supervision? Never explained in HD2 or HIT-TMMW……

Zeus,
Well did they? Until I hear it straight from the horse′s mouth I wouldn′t beleive it. I don′t think second hand information are very ACCURATE anyway. Although the TWINS are so GENETICALLY gifted that they could TOLERATE such Inefficent training. They were already unusually BIG and STRONG long before Mike came along.
Yes it is a FACT that MOST if not all Prominent Bodybuilders that has trained with Mike for a time had all SWITCHED BACK or SETTLED for a more MODERATE version of HIT (more volume and frequency than PURE HD/HIT). That included guys such as Dorian Yates, Aaron Baker, David Paul, Roland Kickinger, David Dearth. I think the reason for that is twofold. First I beleive those guys had found something that would made them decide to REVERT back to a more moderate version of HIT. Remember those guys are the CREME of the CROP when it came to GENETIC GIFT in muscle development(highly responsive to training) therefore if Pure HD/HIT hadn′t work well for them then more so with us mere mortals! Also bear in mind that those guys use various anbolic DRUGS which literally alter ones METABOLIC threshhold (recovery, protien synthesis, etc.) Therefore it couild be said that maybe it would actually be CONTERPRODUCTIVE and IRRATIONAL for a steroid user(drug enhanced body) to use HD/HIT (to maximize recovery ability)! It would be like having a FORMULA 1 race car run at 55 miles an hour! That would be a TOTAL waste of the RESOURCE POTENTIAL! I think HD/HIT is ideal for NATURAL athletes only that has a very limited recovery ability. PEACE.
