Most people don′t recovery a second though & blindly or very stupidly train a specific body part on a specific day just because thats the day it was scheduled. Not because the previous w/out′s inroad has been recovered from. Arthur Jones once said "..we are just beginning to understand how demanding this [stuff] is". "Stuff" being HIT training. Jones′ last words on w/out frequency was 1x a week for those w/ avg tolerance & much less for those who w/ less tolerance. Even training only 1x week is often too much for me w/ 1x every 10-15 days sometimes being required for full recovery.

I recently had a five month layoff from training and when i started again i was stronger in isolation exercises but weaker in compounds.Only downside with infrequent training is that i like to train. I made new records in leg extensions and cable crossovers,so what i had lost was the skill.

I′m convinced that Mike′s CONSOLIDATION routine is not an alternative but rather standard routine. I think now after yrs of beating my head against the wall for yrs following the standard nautilus 10+ exercise routine that the majority of trainees should limit they′re training to 2-3 compound exercises done for (after a thorough w/up of a few progressive light sets) no more than 1 peak set each.
The correct # of exercises and peak sets of those exercises should be so laughably small that the only thing more rediculous is the # of days spent recovering from from that tiny volume of exercises.

So its midnight here, the family is fast asleep & I′m up as usual. I got the urge to lift so I DL′ed 325 for a couple of singles then I got the urge to do my favorite lift – the Front Squat. It may not deliver as much overall gain but I love it. Its been 3 weeks since I last FS′ed (250v5) & I did 225×5 absolutely raw (no belt, no wraps, no nothing) like it was nothing.
^ This is proof (for me anyway) that the standard 3x wk is total crap bullshit. I chasllenge everyone here to take a 3 wk layoff & see what happens. I′m betting you′ll surprise the hell out of yourself & be a 1x every 3 wks convert too.

The hardest part (for me at least) of the 1x every 3wks w/out schedule is not the training but the waiting. The temptation often gets the better of me & I end up short circuiting the recovery process stagnating my gains.
